Our collards have been adding biomass ever since Elysa, Marie, Teo, and I introduced to soil. The reason why the plant keeps adding biomass everyday is because of mitosis, photosynthesis, and respiration. Mitosis is basically cells duplicating, and any living thing will increase biomass when their cells are duplicating. Photosynthesis is insanely important to any plants. This process allows the plant's leaves to soak up sunlight and turn it into nutrients, like glucose. The process of photosynthesis leads us straight into respiration, which is the plant creates energy using glucose and oxygen. The eneryg is then used on various tasks inside the cell.
In order for your plant to make important enzymes like PEPC and Rubisco from photosynthesis, they have to send some sort of alert for these enzymes to be created. When the alert is sent, through a DNA duplicating process, called mRNA, which is kind of like a messager, which is then send to the ribosomes when the proteins are created using the "directions" send by the mRNA
